Broadway Village Residents Lend a Helping Hand at Second Harvest Heartland
On March 27th, residents at Broadway Village went on the bus for a meaningful and rewarding volunteer experience at Second Harvest Heartland Food packaging center in Brooklyn Park. The evening shift which marked our national nutrition day event, was filled with teamwork, friendship, and a shared commitment to helping others.
Our group worked with others to pack an impressive 2,500 pounds of onions for distribution to families in need. It was incredible to see the level of dedication and enthusiasm from everyone involved. Resident volunteers took pride in knowing that their efforts would directly support individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Beyond physical work, the experience also provided an opportunity to connect, build relationships, and strengthen our sense of community. Laughter, jokes and conversation flowed easily while we waited for the shift to start, and on the bus rides with Scott the amiable driver. The day was not only productive but also enjoyable.
We are so proud of our residents for stepping up and making a difference. Their willingness to give their time and energy reflects the compassionate spirit that makes our community so special. And in the words of Adedayo and other volunteers “We look forward to more opportunities to serve and support others together in the future”.
