Blaine Courts Gives Food, Gets Visit from Santa, and PIZZA!
We love our annual visit from our local heroes at the Spring Lake Park/Blaine/Moundsview (SBM) Fire Department. Not only because they help collect food for local residents in need, but because they somehow have a direct connection to Saint Nick himself! Santa and a few members of SBM Fire Department stopped by earlier this month to check and see if everyone’s been naughty or nice, and to help feed the hungry this holiday season.
Our annual Fall Food Drive in November had a goal of 200lbs. of donations, and if we met or broke that goal, we would throw a pizza party. Well, they broke by 45lbs., bringing our total to 245lbs. As promised, we will be enjoying a pizza party after the holidays, scheduled for early January. We’re thinking of trying something local, so we plan on Ole Piper Inn to deliver the goods. All donations went to our local Emergency Food Bank at Salvation Army, located inside the Anoka Co. Human Services Building, where some of our favorite helpers are: Queta helps folks facing homelessness find safe and stable housing, and Lisa from Anoka County Community Action Program (ACCAP) helps current seniors with resources for food, energy assistance, car repairs, housekeeping, tax help and so much more. These all-stars, along with our local heroes from SBM Fire Department, are just a few of the amazing connections our award-winning managers have made and maintain to help our residents out in times of need.
