| Community: Summit Oaks

Wow! What a year Summit Oaks had!

We’d like to share with you what it’s like living in a top-of-the-line community, led by a management team that truly cares.  We do that… We do that and more.
We boast giving back and spoiling residents, to make sure their needs are met and attended to and service orders are responded to in the same day. We’re talking Summit Oaks residents who not only receive, but give back.  Please read on…

During 2016 we achieved County recognition for recycling efforts. We placed 1st in Multi-Family Housing among 53 other multi-family building.  I should say: “we rocked”!  True Congratulations, however, goes to the awesome residents who care about where they live and the environment.

Our Maintenance Tech provided quality living keeping resident’s needs top of mind.  During 2016, over 600 various work orders were tended to from plumbing (you know, toilets, drains, and clogs to opening windows for residents, replacing carpet or vinyl flooring,  to replacing batteries in smoke detectors.  We remain code compliant in the City of Coon Rapids with the upgrade and install of “In-Unit-Sounders” as installed by Fire Safety specialists which was overseen by the Fire Marshall, City of Coon Rapids.

Lang Nelson Management saw to it that 32 residents received brand-spanking-new central-air condition/furnace units.  We love our residents that’s why we maintain high quality equipment to keep residents nice and warm in the winter and cool as a cucumber during hot Summer months.

Our parking lot was resurfaced, striped and remains very “perrrrrdy” as it surrounds the beauty of our ‘castle-like’ building.  We landscaped several areas around the building and courtyard with gorgeous flowers, rocks, trees, plants and more.  No boring here, just beauty all around.  We surreptitiously fed the squirrels who were seen carrying away dried corn cobs from our Fall display.  We take care everywhere.

We brought a “Farmer’s Market” right here to the front door of Summit Oaks so treat residents to farm fresh produce, eggs, jellies, jams, breads, and more.

The Summit Oaks Resident Council made sure residents remained happy.  Root Beer Floats and ice cream were available during hot Summer months. The Council made 60 lap blankets that were delivered to a local nursing home.

We celebrated with a “Mardy Pardy”, Valentine Party, birthday gatherings, a Mother’s Day Tea Party, Summer In January, National Night Out BBQ, A summer BBQ – just because, and a Noon Year’s Eve Party, to name a few.

We provided FREE Income Tax Preparation, and free bus transportation with service from Lang Nelson’s private fleet of buses that escorted residents to the Como Zoo, Science Museum, Apple Orchard, Shopping at local Malls, the Mill City Museum.

Resident volunteers donated thousands of hours to resident activities and more.  Jimmy and Jean walk the floors every morning that services the Sunflower Project.  Their donated time each is equivalent to (3) 40-hour work weeks.  Virginia and Carol, Jean and Cindy are always, always, serving up, conjuring up ideas and facilitating events and bringing so much integrity here at Summit Oaks.

Summit Oaks is proud to have 17 military Veterans call Summit Oaks their home.  On Veteran’s Day, we celebrated them, and asked for donations of gently used clothing, personal products, etc.  In less than one week, we collected (3) shopping carts full and flowing over that benefited the Minnesota Disabled Veterans.

In December, we collected over 300 pounds of food and $120 in cash (Resident Council Funds), to the local Anoka County Food Shelf.

Suffice it to say, the community family of Summit Oaks residents are the best around.  As we continue our involvement and look forward to 2017, celebrations, volunteerism and management will continue to make Summit Oaks the community where everyone would want to live

At Summit Oaks, we look forward to seeing more new faces and having many guests, friends, colleagues and businesses share in this awesome building.  Please remember that everyone is always welcome to join our meals and activities at Summit Oaks.  Or, stop by for the tour of a lifetime!  We’re here for you!
