Twin Lake North Spreads the Word of the Importance of the 2020 Census!

The NEW Twin Lake North has recently partnered with the city of Brooklyn Center to spread the word about the importance of the 2020 census. On Friday, February 28th, TLN activities coordinator Erin Kukowski attended the city’s green light initiative kick-off event and spoke to residents about the importance of the census to rental communities. The 2010 census showed that Brooklyn Center was undercounted by over 7,000 people and a large portion of that was renters. We want the resident’s at TLN to know that they MUST be counted in order for our city, and ultimately our people, to receive the proper funding and political representation that we deserve.

The outside of the city hall building was lit up in green on Friday (pictured) and the city will continue to light up major buildings with green leading up to April 1st- Census Day. The green lights are a reminder that every person matters and must be counted. Twin Lake North residents have the opportunity to participate directly in this initiative! Stop by the office to grab your free green LED light bulb and light-up your apartment interior along with the city.

Additionally, keep your eye out for the actual Census! In mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. Please contact the office if you would like assistance filling out your family’s information!
