River Oaks Has Great Neighbors!
The community and neighborhood surrounding River Oaks of Anoka is phenomenal! Our door-to-door neighbors and partnering organizations are great! We feel so grateful for the support we have for one another, but we are especially thankful for Mt. Olive Church in partnering with us. In the past, River Oaks and Mt. Olive Church have hosted activities and events together that include National Night Out, children's daycare, Bible Studies, and volunteering for Operation Christmas Child.
Every year for National Night Out we collaborate on how to best meet the needs of our neighborhood. We share their parking lot, and split the activities. We use their tents and they use our chefs. We couldn’t do the night out without them and they feel the same way about us.
Another way in which we have worked well together is through their children’s daycare. The kids come over to us and do crafts with us. They sing songs and play games. They minister to our residents and our residents show them the love of a surrogate grandparent.
Mt. Olive’s pastor, Pastor Randy comes to our residency and does bible studies and a service twice a month. His kind spirit resonates with each of our residents whether they are Lutheran or not.
When Covid-19 struck the teens came out and chalked a cross in their parking lot facing our building, it was for our residents, to let them know they are loved.
We do Operation Christmas Child, a hat and mitten drive, and one or our resident’s makes quilts which we bring to Mt. Olive for distribution. Time and again we have enriched each other and we are grateful for this partnership.
River Oaks offers so many opportunities for our residents. We are an assisted living community offering studio’s, 1- and 2-bedroom apartments and care suites for those extra services. We have nursing care 24/7 and you will love our Ida Marie restaurant with homemade food prepared by our own chefs and served by our excellent staff.
