Tis the Season for our Annual Poinsettia Delivery from Lang Nelson Transportation!

This December, our Lang Nelson (LN) Transportation drivers had the pleasure of delivering beautiful poinsettia’s to each of our LN offices. The poinsettia is a beautiful reminder of the upcoming Christmas Holiday and adds a brightness and cheer to each of our offices. We wanted to know the history of the Poinsettia and what it meant to the holiday season, so we set out to google pointsettias to discover the meaning. Here is what we found…

The legend behind the poinsettia’s association with Christmas dates back to 16th century Mexico, focusing on a girl referred to as Pepita or María. The girl was too poor to bring a gift to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. An angel planted the idea for the girl to pick up weeds off the road and place them at the church alter. From the alter, vibrant blossoms grew from the weeds into what we now call poinsettias. Franciscan friars continued the tradition of including these plants in their Christmas celebrations. The unique star shape of the plant and color symbolize The Star of Bethlehem and Jesus’ sacrifice.

As the LN drivers dropped off poinsettias at locations throughout the metro, we are reminded how meaningful this bright floral plant is to many.  From LN Transportation, we want to say to you, our residents and our residents’ VIPs, stay positive and stay strong!
