Cedarwood Welcomes New Resident Gayle S!

Please send a warm welcome to Gayle S,

Cedarwood resident since June.  Gayle is just getting back into apartment life after being a home owner for 34 years in Brooklyn Park.

Gayle grew up in the Selby-Dale area of St. Paul and graduated from Central High School.  After high school she took employment with Northwest Airlines for a few years which allowed her to travel the world.  Some of her destinations included California, Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean, and Japan.  Ultimately she settled in Atlanta where she worked for the Historical Black Colleges and Universities’ prestigious Spellman College in the art department.  Gayle had quite the friends, including the Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson who was part of the drama department.  She stayed in Atlanta for seven years and then transferred back to the Twin Cities for her next stage of life:  Being a wife and mother.

Gayle has been retired from AT&T since 2016.  While working for AT&T they helped pay for her tuition at Metro-State University where she got her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.  She interned at WCCO.  She continued along with her education at the College of St. Scholastica where she received her Master’s in Public Service.

Coming to Cedarwood marks a whole new chapter in Gayle’s life.  She enjoys being free to be social with friends.  Her hobbies include step dance, golf, fishing, and traveling.  Gayle especially enjoys being a grandmother to two grandsons and one granddaughter.  Happy to have you here at Cedarwood, Gayle!
