About White Bear Lake

White Bear Lake is located on one of the largest lakes in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. This city was named after this large lake, White Bear Lake. American writers like Carl T. Thayer and Mark Twain have explored different versions of the legend that explains the origin of the name. Most of these stories have centered around the Manitou Island on the lake. Manitou means “spirit” in the Dakota language, according to the White Bear Lake Historical Society.

This great city is known for their fun events like the Bear’ly Open, Marketfest, Polar Bear Plunge, Summer Series Music by the Water, and the White Bear Lake Fireworks. Whether it’s the Fourth of July or the Pine Tree Apple Tennis Classic, there is always something happening in White Bear Lake. So grab the family and head towards fun!

Manitou Days

This fun filled festival is a 10 day event in June. It hosts events like the Community Pool Party at the YMCA, Art Fair at the White Bear Shopping Center, and tours of the Fillebrown House. Lately, this festival has added new events like a Disc Golf Tournament and a Class A Sailing Regatta on the lake.

Pine Tree Apple Orchard

Since this Orchard started in 1904, it has expanded to over 300 hundred acres; planted in apple trees, strawberries, pumpkins, and corn for the corn maze. During the fall, they offer weekend entertainment, pony rides, wagon rides, and a corn maze, pick your own pumpkins, a large variety of apples, homemade bakery products, caramel apples, fresh cider, gifts and more!
