Featuring Mike H, another fine Senior Transportation Driver!

Mike H. was born in Haverhill Massachusetts in1944.  After high school he worked at Western Electric for over a year before enlisting in the Navy. It was while he was in the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia that he met his wife Joy who was visiting her sister and her husband. He worked as a printer in the Navy and they settled in Minnesota when he was discharged.

Mike worked in the printing industry for nearly forty years as he worked his way up from pressman to Production manager and then ultimately the Manager.  Mike and his wife Joy live in St. Michael, MN. and have two daughters.  Mike is also a proud grandfather of six and the great grandfather of one. He and Joy love attending the many sporting events that their grandchildren participate in.

Bored with retirement, Mike was residing at one of our Lang Nelson communities, the Waterford when he was asked to start driving the bus. Mike enjoys taking the residents and hearing their wonderful stories.   Mike says, “I treat all my passengers as I would like my mother and father to be treated”.  What a wonderful attitude!  Thank you for being a part of senior transportation Mike!  We appreciate you!

August at Summit Oaks has been a busy one! The renovations to the courtyard are finished and as you can see our courtyard is gorgeous.  It is wonderful to see the residents swimming, barbecuing or just relaxing reading a book.

Thank you to all the Resident’s that attended our “Night to Unite” party!  Everyone that attended shared great food and great friendship.  A special “Thank you” to Randy Beck for donating the watermelon. Our special guests were Mayor Howe, Chief of Police Wise, and proudly our Coon Rapids Fire Department.  Mayor Howe and Chief Wise  both loved Summit Oaks and have always been impressed with our community.  We have wonderful residents of Summit Oaks and our grounds are welcoming and beautiful.

Thank you again for sharing stories and getting to know each other a little better.  The “Heart” of Summit Oaks came to light at Night to Unite!

Snoopy has been wearing many hats this summer-He was there to greet our residents for our Pool Party held in June- He welcomed our guests for Chat & Chowder in July and our residents & guests for our annual National Night Out in August. Now Snoopy is letting everyone know that we are in the process of renovating the office to better serve our residents. Even with the mess that a renovation can make, our dedication of service to our residents has not been affected.

Autumn Woods had another busy Summer of Events for their residents & guests and we are looking forward to our Fall Events, like Spooky Spud Night and the Autumn Woods Pinheads Wii Bowling League!

Lang-Nelson Senior Transportation provides motor coach transportation to our residents to casinos in the area. However, not all of our residents are able to go out on the coach to the casinos so; we bring the casino to The Rivers.  The resident  have great fun with the many games that we offer and have a good time with their friends and neighbors playing for paper money and then bidding on prizes at the end of the day.  This is just one of the many ways we work to provide community based fun within our community.

Come to our speaker series and tour The Rivers to see how we can make your life easier, more enjoyable and have the opportunity to continue to learn new things with our Senior Educational Series (history, art, music, travel….). After touring our community and enjoying a free lunch or dinner ask about what incentive you will receive for moving into The Rivers.

The goal of the Waterford Senior Campus is to promote maximum independence and dignity for each of our residents in a home-like setting. In addition to our Memory Care, Assisted Living, Advanced Care Suites, Independent Senior Apartments, and Townhome housing rental options, we offer supportive services that include physical needs along with social and spiritual well-being.

Each resident’s personal history, interests, strengths and challenges will be used to develop a plan of care which is focused toward maintaining the optimum quality of life. Staff is specifically trained in the latest approaches in caring for the memory care resident by the Occupational Therapist.

Life enhancement activities are designed to meet the needs of each resident. Programs flow throughout the day to promote cognitive, sensory, creative, and physical skills.

We currently have a male and female opening on our memory care unit. Your loved one deserves to be spoiled from the homemade, delicious meals from the Ida Marie Restaurant and 24 hour care by our trained home health aides.
