BLANKET LADIES DONATE TO TEEN CHALLENGE
The Heathers Estates Blanket Ladies, recently disbanded, decided to donate their fundraising proceeds to another worthy cause. Teen Challenge’s dedicated mission is to assist teens and adults in gaining freedom from chemical addictions and other life-controlling problems by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. As a result, countless individuals have turned their lives around and live free from alcohol and drug addiction.
Pictured center is Deborah Tomey, Minneapolis Teen Challenge Community Liaison, accepting a check from The Heathers Estates Blanket Ladies, a group of 10 women volunteers, who make and donate fleece baby blankets, in addition to handmade crocheted blankets and hats, to homeless and maternity shelters. Also pictured, are unofficial officers of the Blanket Ladies (left Erna Taillefer and right, Phyllis Mork).
In one six month period, the Blanket Ladies group, funded also by Robbinsdale Lions and the Kiwanis, delivered 288 baby blankets and 164 stocking caps to five local agencies: Robbinsdale Women’s Center, Metro Womens Center, Amazing Grace Maternity Home, St. Vincent’s Jeremiah program, and the Minnetonka Life Center.
If you would like to live in a community that cares about others’ well-being and don’t just “talk the talk, but also walk the walk”, give us a call. We would love to have you visit our friendly and caring community.
