November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month

Saint Jude Hospice is proud to have been working in partnership with Lang Nelson communities since the fall of 2009.  Together our organizations collaborate to bring hope and healing to residents within their homes and community.

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care month and Saint Jude Hopice would like to recongize the professionals working in hospice and palliative care, including physicians, nurses, social workers, therapists, counselors, health aides, clergy and volunteers. We value the comprehensive, compassionate care provided to each patient and the time these professionals take to foster hope and healing to those who need it most.

Every year more than 1.5 million Americans living with life-limiting illness and their families received care from the nation’s hospice programs in communities throughout the United States. More than 468,000 trained volunteers contribute 22 million hours of service to hospice programs annually.

Hospice philosphy focuses pain management and symptom control, caregiver training and assistance, and emotional and spiritual support. The goals of hospice care are to empower patients to live with fulfilment through the course of a serious, life-limiting illness up until the final moments, surrounded and supported by the prescence loved ones.

Saint Jude Hospice is a proud member of both the National Hospice and Pallitive Care Organization and the Minnesota Network of Hospice & Pallitve Care. Saint Jude Hospice, which was founded in 2008, brings hospice care to the Twin Cities metro area, as well as the Cambridge, St. Cloud, Rochester and western Wisconsin regions. Services available through Saint Jude Hospice include skilled nursing, music therapy, massage therapy, social work, spiritual care and bereavement care.  For more information about Saint Jude Hospice, please go to http://www.saintjudehospice.org, call (800) HOSPICE, or visist with a Lang Nelson Housing Specialist today.
