Earle Brown Terrace- February 2011

The community around Earle Brown Terrace at 6100 Summit Drive N. in Brooklyn Center, MN, came together this past week.  They gathered around a warm fireplace, sharing thoughts and hopes for the area, and they warmed their stomachs with the six different kinds of soup that Ida Marie Restaurant provided free of charge at our first Winter Warm-up/Soup Tasting Event.  Hundreds of invitations went out by phone, postcard, and word of mouth, and folks responded in large numbers.

The prevailing question from the many visitors was, why didn’t somebody in the community think of this before? Everyone felt it was good for the community (both business and residential) to gather and share in conversation, and feel the warmth of spirit, and the connection to our forebears that the historic surrounding of Earle Brown Terrace provided.  The connections that developed during this event will be lasting.

We believe the goodwill generated at this simple soup tasting will spread throughout the community of Brooklyn Center.  This year Brooklyn Center celebrates its 100th birthday as a city.  This event is just one example of a yearlong series of special events meant to bring the city together and connect it with its roots. It is most likely that Earle Brown Terrace will make this community gathering a regular monthly occurrence so that we truly do become a “neighborhood” of friends caring for each other.

Timbers at Apple Valley Welcomed the Lex Ham Band!

On Saturday, February 12, 2011 The Timbers at Apple Valley hosted a concert performed by the Lex Ham Community Band.  Dave and Gwen Bradley, Timbers residents, happen to be the proud parents of one of the band members, Lisa Kingsley.  This concert was well attended by residents, family and the Apple Valley Community!  We were treated Sousa marches, show tunes, classical concert band pieces, swing /jazz, and Dixieland arrangements. Feet were tapping, hands were clapping and smiles were shared with everyone!

The Lex-Ham Community Band is a volunteer musical ensemble composed of residents and students who live in the Lexington-Hamline and surrounding neighborhoods of St. Paul, Minnesota. The group is directed by Jeremy Carvell.

In today’s economy Park Blvd. has continued to average occupancy levels near 90%, primarily due to the fantastic tenants within our office community. Park Blvd. tenants enjoy our prime location and the traditional urban lifestyle that Excelsior and Grand offers in the heart of St. Louis Park. Being only a stone’s throw away from the uptown lakes area and the new Twins Baseball Stadium; Target Field isn’t too bad either!

2010 was a very active year for the tenants and Lang Nelson management team at Park Blvd. We’ve added nearly $30,000 worth of improvements to our building without raising the costs associated with renting!

Early in the year our office community was greeted with the addition of Transition Healthcare; a wonderful addition to our vast array of medical professions within our building. In addition to THC, we welcomed yet another healthcare based company in BrightStar, December of 2010. We also welcomed Susan Broadwell and Kristen Burnett; both Licensed Psychologists and members of Minnesota Women in Psychology Group, Dr. Donna Peterson, Licensed Acupuncturist and David Dolenc with his new business Amebylon. We are now down to only 2 available suites!

Thank you to all of our wonderful tenants for referring your friends and family to Lang Nelson. It is truly a great testament to Lang Nelson and we appreciate you and your businesses sincerely. We look forward to growing with you and your business for many years to come!
Sincerely,

Paul Ghizoni

A long time resident of The Pines, Lu Carlson has been knitting baby caps in our Thursday night Knitting Group for several years now. When she has a box full, we pack them up and send them to Save the Children. Save The Children is an organization dedicated to helping children in unfortunate situations in the United States and around the world. The ladies of The Pines knitters are said to really be able to “spin a yarn” and now they are doing it for a good cause!

Lang Nelson’s medical services company – Transition Healthcare, has made additions to its nursing staff to better serve our community residents. Lang Nelson pioneered in-house medical services for residential communities about 10 years ago, by having RN’s LPN’s and HHA’s on site to provide a continuum of care for residents. In 2010, LN created Transition Healthcare – a captive medical services company to expand and improve resident services. Transition health care has added four nurses since May, and now has over twenty nurses and over 120 Home health Aides serving clients in our Customized Living communities. The senior community is responding favorably. Our Tradition community in Brooklyn Park has enrolled 15 Transition Healthcare clients since January 1.

Come see the residents of Tradition! On February 14th, the audience will be captivated with our version of “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet ~ Buy Me A Valentine” radio show production. Go back in time, when an entire show was performed on the radio. Celebrate the history, re-live some fond memories, and meet some really great new friends. The show starts at 1pm. Refreshments will be served at our Valentines Party immediately following the performance! See you at Tradition! Details and directions: CALL (763) 416-7740 TODAY!
