Another Party at The Pines!

Residents of The Pines gathered together to beat the log cabin blues, warm up the chill in their bones, and meet new friends in our on-site Ida Marie Restaurant.  Residents and staff came dressed in flannel shirts and snowcaps ready to share their stories of winters past.  Delicious Chili with Cornbread Muffins and Grilled Tuscan Chicken with Oven Roasted Potatoes were the special menu options served to celebrate the theme of the night.  After enjoying dinner, residents came together in the Pine Cone Café around the fireplace to warm up their bodies as well as their brains with some thought provoking trivia led by one of our very enthusiastic volunteers.  The evening ended with everyone singing a song to warm the heart.

Come visit The Pines where it is always warm and inviting!

Tradition was excited to award Flo & Al Beckman a $500 VIP Bonus.  The Beckman’s have recently moved to Tradition.  Shortly after they were settled in their new spacious two bedroom home, they were asked “Do you know anyone else that would benefit from this type of community?”  Immediately Flo was reminded of a life-long friend who was considering this area, and considering a move.  We worked together to make the experience for both the Beckman’s and their friends a success story.  When their friends moved to Tradition, Al & Flo received $500.  How wonderful is it to not only enjoy a new community, but pick your own neighbors!  All Tradition residents have an opportunity to take advantage of our VIP Bonus program!
Thanks Flo & Al for being Super Star supporters of this great community!

The theatre lives in our Mickey Dunham. The proof? Her name sounds like a celebrity stage name. Her real name is Ann. Far too plain for our diva and organizer extraordinaire.

Mickey has been involved in the theatre forever. She, herself, with the Theatre in the Round following her university days, but discontinued her theatre career when her sons were born. Her late husband has actually been a movie star. Dale Dunham began with the Guthrie Theatre in Fiddler on the Roof and then starred as Mr. Bigley in the Chanhassen’s “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying”.  Following that run, he was in the movies, “Drop Dead Gorgeous” and “Feeling Minnesota” with Keanu Reeves and Dan Ackroyd. But enough about him.

Mickey has lived at The Heathers Estates for nearly (5) five years. Since she was in a Witness Protection Program, initially she was on the QT.  But then the Statute of Limitations came into play and she’s been on a roll ever since. (She’s not the only one prone to drama.) Mickey has scheduled our site with presentations at the Ideal Theatre in St. Paul as varied as a Neil Diamond concert and WCCO’s Bud Kraehling. Most recently, she organized an excursion to “Noel at Noon” at the local Unity Church. She has been hostess to “Jeeves in Bloom” at the Old Log Theatre and trips to the Bloomington Civic Theatre.

The Holiday Light Tour at The Heathers Estates is the finale for 2010. Can’t wait to see what excursions Mickey dreams up for us in 2011.
