The Year of Celebration!

Though this is the year of the Dragon, it is also the year of

Todd and his Award Winning Team, therefore cause for celebration.

Creekside Gables, located in the beautiful Village Creek redeveloped area of Brooklyn Park, is proud to announce the recent  arrival of the industry’s premier maintenance team.   Todd Campbell has lead TwinLakeNorth (townhome style apartment complex) to two industry awards, winning the award for Minnesota’s best Maintenance Technician and Team.  He and his team have recently taken on Creekside Gables and have already made a large impact on both the site and the residents.

Though Creekside Gables is much more than it’s Maintenance Team, it is this award winning maintenance team that helps Creekside Gables be a place of recent celebration.  Additionally, it is the people and all the fun that takes place on site.  Below are just a couple of the upcoming events that we are excited to celebrate and request that you join us for.

It’s Chilly outside…

And VERY warm in here.

When it got cold outside; the Arbors turned up the heat with a chili cook off. Residents enjoyed a feast of chili and cornbread on a cold January evening. A selection of staff and residents faced off in a very exciting and epic dual of chili recipes from influences around the world. Residents voted after sampling each chili to decide who would be the reigning chili champ of White Bear Lake. The prize was more than money; it was for the glory and bragging rights at our morning coffee and continental breakfast! All seven entry’s were unique and delicious, but at the end of the night, the Arbors manager emerged victorious with Arbors resident Donna Hanson coming in at a close second place. They did not reveal their secrets, but they both happened to spend some time in Arizona. The night was full of excitement, joy and spending time with fantastic people. Please join us next time for a large helping of smiles, festivity, conversation and good old fashion laugh out loud fun! Our chili will warm your heart.

Testimonial from a Heathers Manor Family Member

I have always felt that this time of year provides a unique opportunity to acknowledge and express gratitude to those individuals who have touched my life in their own unique way. Heathers Manor is at the top of that list.

I have cared for my 90 year old mother for several years. The day arrived when I had to make a difficult decision about her continued care and safety. After much soul searching, research, and time spent at the Heathers and with the staff, I knew that I had found a community in which my mother would thrive.

I cannot speak highly enough to everyone with whom I have had contact at the Heathers. Their degree of professionalism, their infectious enthusiasm, and their obvious commitment to creating and maintaining a welcoming residence cannot be denied. Despite the challenges with dementia, the interactions she has are successful in keeping her engaged with her environment and with the people around her.

The professional medical staff that work at the Heathers Manor are also a blessing. Both Transition Healthcare and Bluestone physicians provide yet other levels of care unlike anything I have experienced before.

You are commended for supporting the “Dream Team” approach to assisted living. I concept of eldercare has come a long way and I am convinced that the Heathers Manor has done much to contribute to this newer construct.

Thank you Heathers Manor, I can be a daughter again. I can sleep at night. I can take the time to heal. My mother feels safe. She is comforted knowing a variety of people care for and about her. She is at peace.

MERIDIAN MANOR ART SHOW

Meridian Manor Resident Beverly Bingham’s Art Show was held on Wednesday, January 18th at Meridian Manor.  Beverly has traveled the world and studied various art mediums so the art show was a wonderful combination of paintings and photographs from the Polar Regions and Scotland.  Residents and the community enjoyed the stories behind the art work that Ms. Bingham was kind enough to share.  Everyone attending was graciously given note cards representing Ms. Bingham’s photographs; a wonderful keepsake from a very talented artist.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES AT MERIDIAN MANOR

Of course, Meridian Manor continues to be the “fun place to be” and the events scheduled for February are perfect examples.

February 14th Meridian Manor is celebrating Valentine’s Day with special treats and live entertainment by Heidi Ziman.

February 16th, Meridian Manor will be hosting a Driver Improvement Program from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.  Explore the latest in driver traffic safety, changes to traffic laws and modern vehicle technology – plus you may be able to save 10% on your insurance premiums.  You must have taken the complete eight hour class to participate.  Call 1-888-234-1294 to enroll in the course, sponsored by the Minnesota Safety Center.

February 19th is the beginning of “Cruise Week.”  Every day that week, Meridian Manor residents will be “cruising” to a different city and sampling food native to that area.  February 22nd will find residents in New Orleans for Mardi Gras with special live entertainment.  On Friday everyone will be saying goodbye to Minnesota weather while imagining what life is like in the Bahamas with Bob the Beachcomber.

Please join us on Fridays at 9:00 a.m. when everyone is invited for a free breakfast and BINGO. Can you think of a better way to end the week?  Just call 952-473-3200 to RSVP.

MERIDIAN MANOR IS A UNIQUE COMMUNITY

Some of the things that make Meridian Manor unique is that residents my move in totally independent, and then as needs change, the assisted living services comes directly to the apartment.  There is no need to make a second move.

Meridian Manor has nursing services in the building 24/7.  A Care Plan is written for each resident so they pay only for the services they require.  Meridian Manor offers a higher level of services such as sliding scale diabetic care, two-person and mechanical life transfers, feeding tubes, incontinence management, and much more.

Bluestone Physician Services visit our residents once a month.  They become a resident’s primary physician so that residents can have their doctor visits in the comfort and privacy of their own apartment.  Bluestone physicians have hospital privileges at all area hospitals and take Medicare and most insurance plans.

Meridian Manor chefs prepare all of our entrees from scratch.  Our homemade soups are made fresh daily and our entrees always include fresh fruit and fresh vegetables.  Our restaurant features restaurant style service so dining at the Ida Marie is like dining at one of the area’s finest restaurants.

Meridian Manor offers an intimate, friendly environment where we think of our residents as family.  Come and experience Meridian Manor for yourself.  Just give us a call at 952-473-3200 and join us for lunch or dinner.  You’ll see that Meridian Manor truly goes above and beyond our residents expectations!

It Takes a Village

Dear Future Resident and Your Family:

My Mother has been a resident at Earle Brown Terrace since August 26, 2011. A major medical incident on July 20, 2011, led us on the journey from emergency room to hospital to temporary care facility to the need for assisted living for Moms future health and welfare.

In addition to the immediate focus of supporting my Mother through her medical issues and maintaining her other ‘household’ matters for her, I quickly had to locate a new home for her.

As you wade through the details of trying to find an available residence, that meets the needs of a parent and also works financially, you will find it a challenging effort, to say the least.

I want to assure you that should your choice be Earle Brown Terrace, you have chosen wisely. The day I arrived for a tour, Joni escorted me through the building. She acknowledged every resident by name and demonstrated that not only did she truly know everyone but they all knew her and responded in kind.

Since that day, I am reminded on a regular basis that this is as close to home as our family member can be at this stage in their life.  It is a family atmosphere at Earle Brown Terrace and all of the staff interacts with residents as if they were members of their own family. The treatment is always respectful, considerate and caring. Everything that it is possible to do for the well being of your loved one will be undertaken by the personnel here. The administrator, the nurses, the resident service director, the marketer the bookkeeper, the activity director, the front desk ‘greeters’, the maintenance director, the chef  and all the rest give testimony to the success of the phrase “it takes a village”.

Most sincerely,

Luci Botzek, JD

PS – By the way, this is an unsolicited testimonial. I hope it will make this process a little easier for you. I had no one to turn to as I made one of the most significant decisions of my life and I find it helps to not feel alone at these times.
